Gotta Guava, 600 series and Big Berthas.
I'm not sure they are correlated, but last week, I drank a LOT of Jamba Juice...in Hawaii. It was all the Guava ones. Mainly Gotta Guava, but I did try the Groovy Guava one as well. Made up for missing it most of last time. =)
Sadly, I did not find any Chinese Snowflake cookies this time around. Poo.
Anyway, now that I'm back in the mainland, my first order of non-work business was bowling tonight.
From the start, I was on.
4 Xs to start things off. Had a chance to set an all time high if I doubled in the 10th, but instead, I fell apart and got my requisite at least one open frame of the game with a 63 in that last frame. Oops.
Still, 216. Not bad
Then I came back to earth a little with a 168 in the next game.
HS commented that I only needed a 216 to get my first 600 series. I construed that as a joke (even if he was serious).
The third game started out slowly. 3 spare frames. And then an open. Doh! I was starting to miss my pocket. Time to change strategies. I went for the MPHs. Throwing 20+ MPH down the lane. X, X, X, X, X, 9/X to finish things off and earn a 222.
My first 600 series! (606)
Side note. Perhaps it's good that I'm doing well with the house ball cause right now my efforts aren't being spent on looking for a new bowling ball, but instead a set of golf clubs.
Question is...what gave me that great round? Was it the 1994 Big Bertha Irons that I borrowed from EYC's dad? Or was it the driving range visits the last couple weeks where things started to click a little better? Perhaps due to some shred of humility, I'm leaning towards the irons. Which has made me look near and far on ebay for a 14 year old set of golf clubs.
Given that I'm still actually not that good, I'm left to wonder if I should buy a new cheapo $70 woods/iron set, or a used set of Big Berthas for around $150-175, or if I should buy some Big Bertha Clones for $150 ish?
Damn that unusually good round of golf afterglow. =)
