Overlooking the facts?

While browsing Yahoo's Most Popular News items, I came across this article

It claims that a larger ring finger (compared to index finger) predicts higher SAT Math scores. On the other(er same) hand a larger index finger predicts higher SAT Verbal scores.

Lost in all this tunnel vision research is that Asians have a generally lower index finger to ring finger ratio (meaning their ring fingers are longer) than caucasians.

Considering all the asians that suck at verbal (especially now that memorizing vocabulary is not so useful), it's little wonder that people with larger ring fingers get higher Math scores.

In case that research group is lacking for new things to study, they should consider looking into hair color and curliness as predictors of SAT scores.

Four game series

That's the new trend now...that I'm going to start.

Gone to the past are those 3 game bowling series. The trend should be 4 games. Then I'll have a chance.

Tonight's weekly bowl expanded to 4 games again because one of the members showed up halfway through game #2. No biggie. I lost the first game 191-151 anyway. Usually playing a dollar a game, we agreed to treat that as a head to head matchup for a free game and not count it towards the usual series score. This put me down a little in the short term, but reset the score for the series wager.

A third player is apparently all I needed to motivate to bowl better.
I took the 2nd game 181-i dunno what.
Then, the third game was a bit of a depressed game. My 152 took it from everyone.
Interestingly enough, that 3 game series would have taken the series, but oh well.

Finally...game #4.
Bowler 1 (JW): 8/ 7/ open
Me: 9/ 7/ X
Bowler 3 (DY): 7/ 7/ open

Good for me. I had to make up 12 against DY and JW had to give me 7 point.
Alas for me the 4th frame was a:
JW: X
M: 8s1
DY: X
Back in it for them.

However, I wasn't too worried. I'd had several good 2nd halfs to my earlier games, so I was hopeful this would be another chance.

Frame 5:
X (cross-over/brooklyn style)
Frame 6:
X (cross-over/brooklyn style)
Frame 7:
X (cross-over/brooklyn style)
Frame 8:
X (cross-over/brooklyn style)
Frame 9:
X (cross-over/brooklyn style)
Frame 10:
X (cross-over/brooklyn style) 1 more X to break my all time high of 234.
7 (ugh. Couldn't cross over. I nailed the head pin head on.)
1

Final tally: 230 (I lost track of my opponents...heh)

New 2nd best mark! Go 4 game series!

Bowling update 5/14/07

Haven't been keeping up with my bowling updates. Well, mainly because I've been quite erratic. Some good games, some bad games...nothing noteworthy. Until today.

Bowled a 213 for my first game.
Alas, someone else bowled a 214 and beat me. Grrrr.

Then started peetering off with a 150 and even a 139.

Then we bowled a 4th game, and while not quite the 5th game that I always say is my best game, it was close. I bowled a 190 to get revenge on the 214 guy who bowled a 184.

I'll have to figure out a way to capture this so that I can repeat it next week.

Bringing back an old product...a great idea?

Since the cell phone watch is taken, I'll have to resort to plan B as my next great idea.

This great idea serves it's purpose where we spend too much time during the day. The bathroom.

15 minutes (give or take a few...unless you're a certain someone who likes to take 30 minute showers) each day, you spend doing not much of anything except cleaning yourself in the shower. That's 15 minutes that you stand around...perhaps singing for some, or probably pondering for most everyone else. Going through the days events...or thinking ahead to what lies ahead. Sometimes a eureka hits you. "I need to email XYZ" However, if you're like me, by the time you finished showering, you've long since moved on to other thoughts and not until it's too late, do you remember your eureka.
So the great idea...actually this isn't my great idea...but it's a good one =), is that we need to somehow create a writing pad for the shower.

Whatever happened to those scratch pads we had as a child where you would write on a glossy surface with a stylus and the underlying surface would darken (you would erase by lifting the glossy surface). Well that might be the perfect solution. Just make that water resistant (isn't it already?) and voila, a new segment for this old product!

My next great idea...or at least conundrum will be posted shortly (maybe)

You too can be like Michael Knight

Ooh. It's finally here:

the M500

Just released a couple days ago. This cell phone watch supports all sorts of things and has bluetooth so in case you don't feel like being Michael Knight/Dick Tracy/a nerd, you can use a headset.

Once this thing adds internet access, I'll be ALL OVER IT!
